Deciding on a career as an ESL TEACHER

by Jasmine on Jun 25 2010 6:45 PM

There are few schools that offer Teaching English as a second language for undergraduate students. I just recently graduated from high school and I know that I want to become an ESL Teacher. What is the first step you recommend me taking in relations to deciding on a major....Linguistics? English?

Hello,
I am an ESL teacher at a a small private school in Cherry Hill, NJ where I've been employed for three years. I have received my certificate of eligibility in ESL, but I do not have a teacing certificate. My bachelor's degree iss in English/ Education minus the student teaching semester. Do you have a recommendataion as to where I can take the necessary 15- 21 credits in ESL that I need in addition to my job as an ESL teacher to receive my certificate in this field?
Thank you for yoru help.
