ESL students' languages and culture
by Mel on Sep 10 2009 8:40 PM
Could someone please direct me to a good book or website so I can learn more about my students? I would like to know more about my students' culture and habits when it comes to language. I am thinking of something like a reference book or a website because I have students from all over the world. I would also like to find a list of languages and in which country they are spoken. Is there such a book or website that exists for ESL teachers? There should be.
Thanks
Mel

Re: ESL students' languages and culture
Try www.culturegrams.com. We use this resource a lot in our district. This is also a place where you can find the languages spoken in each country/region. The website has both a World edition and Kids edition. The culturegrams used to come in a printed book edition that one would have to purchase each year, but now that they are online, the site is constantly updated.
